With the unexpected and tragic loss of Michael Jackson, I thought the least I could do is think up a Top Ten dedicated to his legacy. So here is Kristie’s Top Ten favorite Michael Jackson related things.
10. For those of you who know our dear friend Kramer, you have hopefully heard him do his Michael Jackson impersonation. It is most recognizable by the phrase “Ju-ju-bee-toga”. If you’re even luckier you have heard what I call the “Dueling Michaels” which consists of Kramer and Aaron both doing impressions and trying to one up each other with Michael-isms. It is amazing!

9. The Sega Genesis game Moonwalker. Though I have never seen or played it in person, the fact that it exists is enough to include it in my top ten.

8. Weird Al’s parody of Bad (Fat). Eat it (Beat it) is good too, but this one takes the cake (all puns and parentheses intended).

7. The Jacksons Victory album cover. There is so much going on here it boggles the mind. I had this record as a child and somehow over the years it was misplaced. I have since bought the c.d. and it brings back a ton of memories!

6. Back in 1984 (?) my sister got a poster that looked similar to this one. She was so excited about it that she had my mom promptly hang it over her bed. Later that night she woke me up freaking out whispering: “Kristie, Michael Jackson is staring at me!” Needless to say she had to go get my mom and the poster was removed. I have no idea what happened to it. =0(  Side note: we also had a Michael Jackson purse.. I think I may have it in a box somewhere.

5. Corey Feldman dancing like MJ! The dance number in Dream a Little Dream 1 is way better but I couldn’t find it. I do own Dream a Little Dream 2 thanks to Kim and Aaron. We still need to WATCH it, any takers? [youtube JdDLO4Neo7k id]

4. THRILLER. Even to this day when I hear that song, it sends me back to watching the video on MTV for the first time and almost peeing my pants with fright! I was so scared, but I couldn’t look away even from behind a pillow. Also, anyone else notice that song is basically a disco song? (The Funk of Forty Thousand Years…)

3. Captain EO. I am so glad I got to see this at Disneyland before it was replaced with “Honey I Shrunk the Audience” which is sooo LAME! Oh and here’s a tip: Don’t see a 3-D show with your fellow choir students in the audience who have just smoked some pot a few minutes before, it almost ruined the whole thing…

2. Dancing Machine! My number one all time favorite Jackson 5 song ever in the history of the world, bask in all it’s disco-licious glory! (She’s super bad now) [youtube Vil7KDAgWE0 id]

1. Ok now down to some serious business. Now, I don’t know if it’s true or not but I have heard that Mr. Jackson would disguise himself… sometimes as an OLD WHITE MAN and go to Disneyland to sit on a bench and people watch. I think this is totally awesome and sad at the same time. It’s sad that he couldn’t go there just as himself and have a fun time like everyone else and it is awesome to think that if you have ever gone there, you might have walked by an old man on a bench and not thought twice about it…

So there it is. No matter what really went on in Michael Jackson’s life, I hope he is finally at peace and that his memory will live on. Jujubeetoga.
