I finally spent some time this weekend to move over a couple of things from the ‘classic’ sysadminco.  You remember that one?  It was green.

In any event you may have noticed an extra link or two at the top of the site.  That’s just me getting some stuff moved over finally.  The one that most people still appear to use is the ‘cryptoquote’ one, and that one may or may not take more time to move, depending a few things I’m considering doing with the code.  You’ll just have to wait and seee!!!!

Confounding Variables

The theme search is over (for now).  I spent last night hacking this new theme so that the left header image was dynamic like the center one.  I’m happy with the results given my photo editing skills.

Thaaaat’s about it.  Maybe SOMEBODY ELSE who has access here needs to write an entry one of these days?  Hmmm?

I would like to warn everyone that I am currently searching for a new site theme.  I’ve finally given up on Green on Black, that is unless I can find a GOOD one that uses those colors or can be made to use those colors well.  The rest of this theme just doesn’t work right, and I’m not ready to spend the time to write my own.

Welp, I figured out what was wrong with the server.  About a month ago Fritzy decided to enable mod_proxy and then comment out the part of the config that kept the box from becoming an open proxy.  So we had thousands of proxy requests running through this server querying what I can only assume is less than legal content, using this server as a buffer to mask identity.

I have a feeling it will take a LOT longer to fall off whatever ‘open proxy’ lists we made it onto than it did to make it onto the list.  The next few weeks should be fun while the server has to deal with millions of (now) invalid proxy requests.  I’m terrified to even look at the logs to see what was being downloaded through this server.   Probably lots of viruses and child porn.
